Bulacan Election Results 2022

According to the news, Bulacan is the top 5 vote-rich province in the Philippines, with 2,007,523 registered voters. Cebu is at the top with 3.288 million, followed by Cavite with 2.302 million. In the third spot is Pangasinan with 2.096 million, followed by Laguna at 4th with 2.045 million registered voters. There is no wonder why candidates running for national posts wooed these provinces extensively during the campaign period.

This article is a recap of the winners of the May 9, 2022, national and local elections based on the official canvassing of the Commission on Elections or COMELEC for the province of Bulacan.

Bulacan’s choice for President and Vice President 2022

The tandem of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. and Presidential daughter, Sara Vicenta Zimmerman Duterte-Carpio, won the presidential and vice presidential race. It was indeed a landslide victory for their party. This is true not just in Bulacan but the overall election results in the country.

President Bongbong Marcos got a total of 1,024,069 votes from Bulakenyos. He leads by 530,432 votes over former Vice President Leni Robredo. The latter may have been the best candidate regarding her educational background, leadership experience, and clean track record. However, the people have spoken and elected Marcos Jr.

Vice President Sara Duterte got 870,629 votes. She leads by 423,751 votes over former Senate President Tito Sotto.

Bulacan’s choice for Senator 2022

Senator Win Gatchalian, a Velanzuela native, got the most votes, with 918,519. Our very own Senator Joel Villanueva follows him with 906,277. Senator Loren Legarda is in 3rd spot with 861,680. Senator Raffy Tulfo is in 4th place with 814,650 votes. Senator Robin Padilla is 5th with 806,367.

Senator Chiz Escudero landed 6th with 797,196 votes. Senator Alan Peter Cayetano follows him at the 7th spot with 672,334. Senator Cayetano’s wife is a Bulakenya and the current mayor of Taguig City. Former DPWH secretary Senator Mark Villar is in the 8th spot with 616,833 votes.

Senator Risa Hontiveros is in 9th place with 600,649 votes. Senator JV “the good one” Ejercito is in 10th place with 569,749. His half-brother, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, is the 13th placer in Bulacan, but he ultimately entered the magic 12 and is proclaimed a winner. Senator Mig Zubiri is in 11th place with 567,059 votes.

Former Quezon City Mayor and movie actor Herbert Bautista are in 12th place with 559,685 votes. However, he did not make it in the final cut. Overall, he placed 14th nationwide.

Bulacan’s choice for Provincial Governor, Vice Governor, and Board Members 2022

Daniel Fernando and Alex Castro won the gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial race. They won over the tandem of Willie Sy-Alavardo, who has been serving in Bulacan in different positions for almost four decades, and Jonjon Mendoza, a former governor of Bulacan from 2007–2010 and a former congressman from 2010–2016. It is a known fact that the Sy-Alvardo and Mendoza families are considered political clans or dynasties in the province.

Gov. Fernando and Vice Gov. Castro vowed to support each other’s programs as they lead the executive and legislative branches of the provincial government.

For the Provincial Board Members (Sanggunian Panlalawigan), the winners are Allan P. Andan and Romina D. Fermin (1st District); Lee Edward V. Nicolas and Erlene Luz V. dela Cruz (2nd District); Raul A. Mariano and Romeo V. Castro, Jr. (3rd District); Allen Dale DC. Baluyut and Enrique A. Delos Santos, Jr. (4th District); Richard A. Roque and Cezar L. Mendoza (5th District), and Arthur A. Legaspi and Renato DL. de Guzman, Jr. (6th District).

The ex-officio members include Indigenous People’s Mandatory Rep. Liberato P. Sembrano, Liga ng mga Barangay sa Bulacan President Ramilito B. Capistrano, Philippine Councilors’ League Bulacan Chapter President William R. Villarica, and Provincial Federation President of Sangguniang Kabataan Robert John Myron A. Nicolas.

Bulacan’s choice for Congressman 2022

Bulacan is divided into six legislative districts plus one lone district of the City of San Jose Del Monte. The winners of the congressional race per District are as follows: Congressman Danny Domingo for the 1st District. He won against incumbent Congressman Jonathan Sy-Alvarado, who is part of the controversial group that voted against ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal in 2020.

Representing the 2nd District is Congressman Tina Pancho, the brother of the incumbent Congressman, Apol Pancho. Congressman Lorna Silverio won in the 3rd District. Pawnshop magnate Congressman Linabelle Villarica won in the 4th District.

Former Guiguinto Mayor and businessman Boy Cruz won in the 5th District. His daughter is now sitting as the lady Mayor of Guiguinto, Atty. Agay Cruz. Representing the 6th District of the province is Congressman Ador Pleyto, a retired DPWH undersecretary during the Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo administration.

Incumbent Congressman Rida Robes won in the lone District of the City of San Jose Del Monte. Her husband, incumbent Mayor Arthur Robes, also won.
