Coping with the loss of my beloved mother last June 13, 2022, I thought of writing this article to help other bereaved families going through or looking for a suitable memorial park in Bulacan. Imagine the emotional trauma that you wanted to mourn. Still, you must think straight about arranging the funeral and memorial services, processing government paperwork, arranging the interment, arranging the food catering, etc.

As a disclaimer, we do not promote or are affiliated with any of the memorial parks mentioned here. You may consider getting a burial plot, a niche, or a columbarium in your local public or private cemetery. Proximity and budget constraints play a significant role in your decision-making. I envy those who have invested in or acquired burial plots to prepare for the future. Rich folks even have their mausoleum, some of which have aircon and a private bathroom to flaunt.

A single burial plot costs around Php 15,000 up to Php 120,000. It depends on its location in the cemetery and the memorial park. Each lawn can accommodate a maximum of two coffins or caskets. You also need to pay for the interment or burial service separately. In our experience with the Manila Memorial Park in Plaridel, we had to shell out an additional Php 35,000 for the interment package, including the tent’s rentals, tables and chairs, sound system, electricity, and the tombstone [Lapida].

We could have opted for cremation, which is simpler and less expensive than having a traditional wake and internment. It has been a family decision to stick with a memorial service that best fits my mother’s final wish.

Nowadays, the funeral service package depends on the price of the chosen casket or coffin. The more extravagant, like finely crafted metallic or imported wood caskets, could fetch around Php 200,000 to more than a million.

The Manila Memorial Park honors the senior citizen and the PWD discount card. If not for my mother’s PWD ID, we might have paid at least Php 50,000 for the interment alone. The fee does not include the chapel rental for the viewing or wake [Lamay]. Yes, we had to pay an extra Php 35,000 for a three-day wake.

After the interment or burial, Filipino Catholics will have to arrange the nine days of mourning [Pasiyam], where mourners offer prayers such as the rosary for the dead every evening for nine days, the 40 days, and the first death anniversary [Babang luksa]. Traditionally, the immediate family members wear dark-colored, preferably black, shirts or tops for a year as a sign of mourning.

We visit my mother’s tomb to offer prayers as often as possible. We even hired a maintenance guy who works in the memorial park for Php 300 a month for this side job. He trims and maintains the lawn grass to keep it looking tidy.

Let us help you check off this peculiar task of finding a memorial park that will serve as your loved one’s final resting place.
