We started an online pre-election presidential poll last July 9, 2021, to know which presidentiable Bulakenyo’s would probably vote next year. Who do you think won our online poll? It is exciting to see the election results next year and compare them with our poll. There are still less than 10 months to go, but the election fever is starting to brew. Who’s your choice? Have you registered already? Vote wisely.
Although it is not yet the official “campaign period,” tarpaulins of possible candidates for the 2022 National Elections appear everywhere in Bulacan. We are slowly seeing political ads on Facebook and even on mainstream media.
Who’s leading the Bulakenyo.ph pre-election Presidential Poll?
We have identified seven (7) possible presidentiables, a person who is a likely or confirmed candidate for president, based on news and what is floated on social media like Mayor Sara Duterte, VP Leni Robredo, Senator Bong Go, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Senator Dick Gordon, and Senator Ping Lacson.
Of all the possible candidates or presidentiables, only Senator Lacson has expressed his intention of running as President and Senator Tito Sotto as his running mate for next year’s elections. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced that the official filing of candidacy will start this coming October 2021.
As of July 30, 2021, our pre-election Presidential Poll has reached more than 74,000 people and was shared 64 times. There are a total of 3.7K reactions or online votes. We assume that these netizens are Bulakenyo.ph Facebook followers. We cannot qualify if they are residents of Bulacan nor registered voters here in our province. To be clear, we are not COMELEC nor categorically connected to any political party in the Philippines. This is NOT a paid online survey nor commissioned by any individual.
VP Leni Robredo got the most votes with 3.1K reactions. She is followed by Davao Mayor and Presidential Daughter Sara Duterte with 295 votes. Former Senator Bongbong Marcos got 191 votes. Senator Ping Lacson received 21 votes. Senator Bong Go meanwhile received 9 votes. Senator Manny Pacquiao, currently in the US training for his boxing match with Errol Spence, got 8 votes. Senator Dick Gordon received the least number of votes with 6 reactions.
Let’s convert the number of reactions to percentages. As you can see in the pie chart below, VP Leni Robredo got the biggest slice with 86%. Mayor Sara Duterte of Davao City follows her with 8%. Former Senator Bongbong Marcos got 5%, while Senator Ping Lacson got 1%. Senators Bong Go, Manny Pacquiao, and Dick Gordon are statistically tied.
If we interpret these statistics, we can say that majority of the online voters are most likely to vote for VP Leni Robredo next year. Mayor Sara Duterte and Former Senator Bongbong Marcos are also strong contenders for the Presidential post. Maybe if Senator Ping Lacson announced his intention to run earlier, he might have garnered a higher vote in our online poll. Well, maybe or maybe not. We really can’t tell. We’ll take these reactions or votes from netizens as is.
Will we see some changes in the political landscape soon? Will we see new breeds of leaders, or will we stick with traditional politics? How about a political dynasty? Several talks and alliances are being forged between or among political parties in preparation for the 2022 National Elections. We are starting to hear unofficial endorsements by the President and his political party. The opposition is also making a move.
Definitely, the foul stench of election is in the air. As much as we hate it because we are still in the pandemic, we have to choose our future leaders. Please vote wisely!
