Are you planning your wedding? Do you have a strictly black-tie event to attend? Are you in the hunt for the perfect gown for your debut? Do you need a great pinya barong that fits perfectly? Then, head on to DISENYO PANDI, your one-stop-shop for the ultimate elegant wear!
That’s exactly what my husband and I did when he urgently needed something to wear for a black-tie event. Instead of going to any of the major malls in Metro Manila, we went for a 20-minute drive to Disenyo Pandi.
The place is easy to find. It’s less than 30 minutes from the nearest NLEX exit. After taking the Plaridel Bypass Road, you just turn directly to the street of Disenyo Pandi. It’s less than 5kms from the Bypass Road. There are plenty of directional signs as well so you won’t miss it.
If you’re also familiar with the popular Amana Waterpark Resort in Pandi, it’s only about a 4-minute drive (less than 1.5kms) from there.
Amana Waterpark is one of the popular waterparks / resorts in Bulacan. Read about it in our feature article: 2018’s Top 10 Resorts in Bulacan for the Ultimate Family Getaway.
Writer’s Tip: Make sure you eat a full meal before you go there. There are more than 50 stalls to cover (if you really want to look around), and there are no restaurants on site. There are only snack booths that you can go to for a quick nibble.
Disenyo Pandi: Home of World-class
Gowns & Barongs
Pandi, one of the ‘youngest’ towns in Bulacan, has always been known for garments and embroidery. Even known shops in downtown Manila and popular wedding gown shops in the Metro have embroiders who are based in Bulacan. As such, it is really but natural that an establishment is put up to be the venue for the town’s artisans to show and sell their masterpieces.
Disenyo Pandi is the trade name of the Bagong Barrio Multi-purpose Cooperative. As per its website:
“It strives to magnify excellence in the industry of creating world-class gowns and barongs by providing a series of educational seminars, affordable raw materials, and advanced pieces of machinery. Likewise, its desire to uplift the socio-economic well-being of its members and the whole community is empowered through its wide array of financial benefits and other industry-related services, which altogether gear towards a great vision: that the small town of Pandi will one day be tagged as the “Fashion Capital of the Philippines”.
When we got there, we were greeted by a two-story establishment with a lot of open space. There were more than 50 stalls to check out. Each stall features exceptional gowns, barongs, and suits. Their products were so beautiful that even upon close inspection of the designs, the embroidery and craftsmanship is really world-class.
We were shy to go in at first because we thought that the products might be too expensive. Judging by the quality of the products that were displayed, it has to be, right? But when we started asking about the price tag, we were really surprised that they were presyong kaibigan. If you don’t want to take our word for it, check out their published prices:
They have different types of gowns, barongs, and suits. You can pick any of their ready-made creations, or you can have one made especially for you. They can also alter any of their pieces on display that is available for sale.
They also carry a lot of accessories that can help you complete your glamorous look. Just go ahead and ask them for recommendations on what goes well together. Always trust the experts!
We found out that they also have an event pavilion that can be rented. It can house up to 500 guests, and the rates are not crazy expensive. Contact them now to inquire about availability and rates.
